"Stop Caring What Others Think: How to Stop Worrying About What People Think of You" by life coach James Umber provides practical and informational tips on how to stop being a "people pleaser" and start making choices based on what YOU want. In the first chapter, the author states "Now there's nothing wrong with doing nice things for people. The problem comes when you do these nice things because you feel like you have to for some reason or another."

The book briefly covers issues regarding self-esteem, receiving validation from others, knowing what you want out of life, achieving your goals and dreams as well as listening to and respecting yourself. A valid point is made regarding how you can never please everyone no matter how hard you try. Readers are encouraged to make life choices based on what's best for themselves rather than doing something (even if they don't want to) just to please someone else.

Beautiful book

Kagero seems to have struck gold with at least three series featuring CAD (computer aided design) models of ships and aircraft. The "Super Drawings in 3D" series features warships of all eras (but predominantly WWII). The long running "Aircraft Monograph" series dedicated to WWII aircraft has begun to feature CAD models with 2 volumes dedicated to the Me 262 and a future one to cover the He 219. And the present book is the second (number 99002) in the "Legends of Aviation in 3D" series dedicated to aircraft of the WWI era.

The book is an 8-1/4" x 11-3/4" (European A4), square bound, 168 page card cover with color restricted to the CAD model because of the age of the aircraft. The first 64 pages are fairly unremarkable. There is an adequate design and development history followed by chapters that follow the D.VII's combat career from the perspective of its pilots, its postwar service in air arms world wide, its colors, and technical details. Outstanding here are the details of its service with the fledgling Polish air arm. There are some useful tables of Fokker aces and most interestingly a table of pilots who were the most successful in shooting them down. There are biographies of Anthony Fokker and Reinhold Platz and four pages of conventional line drawings. Not bad stuff but the various Windsock titles do it much better without the annoying errors in English syntax, grammar, and spelling.

But the heart of the book is the 100 odd pages of CAD drawings. Aircraft of this era were not overly complex machines and the drawings highlight the smallest details. The only thing one could have wished for is more comprehensive captioning or more drawings like the one featuring the cockpit that had the various items called out. The modeller is catered to by the inclusion of drawings of Fokkers in 4 different color schemes from many angles.

Highly recommended. One wonders where this series is headed next. A Nieuport, SPAD, or Camel would be welcome. I just can't get enough of these CAD models.

Buy This Book!

Though there were a few minor typos or misspellings, this book was a delight! It was thorough, had wonderful photos, and the color renditions in "walk-around" form were fantastic! I can't wait to get hold of the first of these books, on the Fokker Dr.I!

Absolutely Amazing Illustrations

This is hands down one of the best reference books on the Fokker D.VII I have ever seen in terms of illustrations. The online previews of the 3D renderings do not do the artist justice. The detail is absolutely amazing. He has included such fine details as the solder joints between the filler neck and the fuel tank and even subtle hammer marks on the hand-formed metal parts. I can't wait to get teh Dr.1 book.

The first part of the book has photographs of the D.VII, many of which I have never seen before as well as historical commentary and excerpts of pilot accounts. As an example there are photos of a two place version of the D. VII with rear gunner that I never knew existed.

All in all a must have for the bonafide Fokker geek.

Seminal work on Quality Assurance in the Health Care field

If you do not know who Avedis Donabedian is, go google him. However, this is the best book on quality assurance that I have read. It gets right to the point without bogging down in academic jargon. Readers might also want to appreciate that Donabedian was so devoted to this subject that he chose to write this book during the last weeks of his life, knowing that they were the last weeks of his life.

Stewart focuses on specific cases of "crimes of writing"—the forgeries of George Psalmanazar; the production of "fakelore"; the "ballad scandals" of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; the imposture of Thomas Chatterton; and contemporary legislation regarding graffiti and pornography. She emphasizes the issues that arise once language is seen as a matter of property, and authorship is viewed as a matter of originality. Finally, Stewart demonstrates that crimes of writing are delineated by the law because they specifically undermine the status of the law itself: the crimes illuminate the irreducible fact that law is written and therefore subject to temporality and interpretation. This valuable and pioneering work, originally published in 1991 (Oxford University Press), will be of interest to literary and legal theorists, folklorists, anthropologists, and scholars of eighteenth-century and postmodern culture.

yes, it's smart

Ok, so the prose is dense, and she's read more books than you, and sometimes there's a bit of untranslated French (a pet peeve, I'll admit). Still, this is brilliant stuff. The chapter on graffiti is a classic-- the best theoretical treatement of graffiti available, and worth the price of the book by itself.

Lots of promise, impenetrable prose

I was very excited about this book. Unfortunately it reads as though it were written by a graduate student has gone mad on speed. The simplest ideas are obfuscated by hideous prose. Here's an example: "In order to maintain imposture as a notion, we must also maintain a ficiton of seamless subjectivity." Otherwise stated: In order to act you have to pretend convincingly. Try it yourself, each page is packed with enough tangled syntax, overwrought diction, and unnecessary allusions to give a decent editor nightmares. Who is in charge of those grants, anyway? This is smart??!!
